Toshiba Portege R thuộc dòng laptop dành cho doanh nhân phân khúc cao cấp nhất và độ bền cao nhất của Toshiba. Máy nặng hơn Z30 nhưng được làm cứng cáp hơn, dung lượng pin cao hơn và chạy chip M hiệu năng cao. Nhờ được làm từ hợp kim magie đúc tổ ong mà máy đạt trọng lượng cực nhẹ 1.4kg so với mức trung bình 1.8kg của các dòng doanh nhân mỏng nhẹ chạy chip M của HP, Dell hay Thinkpad, máy có đầy đủ cổng kết nối như LAN, HDMI, VGA tiện lợi. Ngoài ra do thiết kế bên trong máy rất thoáng nên máy mát hơn nhiều so với dell latitude e6440 hay thinkpad T440p. .
